Delta Construction recently put the finishing touches on deep-discount grocer Aldi’s brand new Peoria store in time to open shortly before New Year’s 2021. It is located at 24665 N. Lake Pleasant Parkway, near Happy Valley Road and Lake Pleasant Parkway.

The Peoria facility is part of the first wave of four new Aldi stores to recently enter the Greater Phoenix area. In addition to Peoria, Delta Construction developed another new Aldi store in Gilbert.

As the local general contractor, Delta also coordinated final build-out/occupation with the grocer’s national vendors. Delta also provided site work for the shopping center, as the property owners’ are planning further retail pad development in the future.

Aldi grocery stores are somewhat smaller than typical supermarkets. The popular grocer typically features its’ own private label of quality grocery products, along with a sprinkling of popular national brands in order to appeal to budget-conscious shoppers.

The facility includes sustainable building elements, such as solar panels, LED lighting and environmentally friendly refrigeration systems, among other features that promote environmental responsibility, ease of use, and efficient maintenance.

The popular Aldi grocery brand is aggressively expanding into the Arizona and California markets, in addition to consolidating its recent entry into the U.S. Gulf Coast states. According Aldi U.S., more locations are planned for the Phoenix and Tucson communities.

The Batavia, Illinois-headquartered grocer operates more than 2,000 stores in 36 states. As 2021 unfolds, the company plans to open about 100 more new stores. Many – like the Peoria store – feature curbside customer pickup.
